The Employment Pact was signed in 2003 as a local government initiative. It is the result of cooperation between District Labour Office in Siemianowice Šl±skie and Dublin Employment Pact in Ireland. Following DEP and its results in tackling unemployment this document was prepared. We decided that cooperation of local communities and exchange of experience between Silesian neighbouring towns are the best ways to fight unemployment. The need for common actions was noticed by many local authorities in the Silesia Region, in Siemianowice Šlaskie Twinning towns and by non-governmental organizations which consequently became the Pact's signatories. Pact was signed during the second day of the International Conference on Tackling Unemployment. It took place on September 5th, 2003 in Siemianowice Šlaskie.
